metal fabrication

Direct Metals offers a complete list of value-added fabrication processes to our complete line of specialty metals inventory. We look forward to meeting your fabricated needs in an economical and timely manner and processing the material to your specifications, saving you time and money.

We offer a variety of processing capabilities, including cut-to-size parts, cutouts, shearing, sawing, burning, punching, drilling, slitting, blanking, stamping, seam welding, spot welding, and MIG and TIG welding to meet the demands of many diverse industries.

Cutting – involves cutting a material into pieces, lengths or shapes. If you have a section of metal grating that needs to be removed to allow you to work around an object, our cutout fabrication service will help take care of that.

Shearing – a metal fabricating process used to cut straight lines on flat metal stock. We can produce the exact sheared size components you need to meet custom fabricated requirements.

Laser, Plasma and Water Jet Cutting – the process of producing a shape, design or pattern into metals through CNC machine programming and cutting for artistic, structural or architectural purposes. Our equipment can handle a broad range of metal plate sizes and thicknesses.

Stamping – the process of producing metal components using a punch and die. Our tooling can produce the custom fabricated metal parts your project requires. This can be done with irregular or linear shaped pieces, per your requirements.

Drilling – a cutting process that uses a drill bit to cut or enlarge a hole in solid metal materials. Our drilling machines are able to handle any operation – from basic to complex.

Blanking – the process of repetitive cutting or shearing material to a predetermined size. We operate a number of low and high volume blanking presses to meet your requirements.

Welding – the process of permanently joining two or more metal parts by melting the workpieces and adding a filler material to form a strong bond. With the latest equipment and a highly skilled staff, we can provide a variety of welding services to meet your every need. Types of welding include, but are not limited to, seam welding, spot welding and MIG and TIG welding.

Sawing – the process of using a band saw, cold saw or abrasive wheel cut off saw to cut your material to your required length.

Punching – the process of putting a round, square or slotted hole into any of our line of products.

Rolling – the process of bending sheet metal to a round or conical shape.

Slitting – the process of converting rolled good products (typically wire mesh or expanded metal) to smaller width coils to suit your requirements.
